Hello double decker buses and drivers on the wrong side of the road! We have four, fast-paced days in London to share, filled with a combination of sight seeing and visiting with many dear family friends. Our little flat in Camden Town is funky – there is wallpaper covered in black velvet flowers – and did we mention little? The girls are learning how to do dishes without a disposal, dishwasher, or drying rack. The washing machine is tucked under the kitchen cabinets and also serves as a dryer, like an all-in-one gadget. The bathroom has a hand-held shower and a tub, which makes bathing a LOT faster since no one can stand under a steady stream of hot water and daydream.
Highlights of our city stay: Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abby, The Horse Guard’s Parade ground, Camden Lock and strolling along the canal, Harrods department store, riding on a double decker bus, riding the underground or “tube,” and some wonderful meals out with old friends. Another favorite spot was Madame Tussauds wax museum. We could have an entire photo gallery dedicated to this because the girls took so many pictures with the wax celebrities, but we’ll spare you that agony. Here are a few photos from our city stay to give you a feel for how the journey began.
The four days are gone in a flash, and off to Paddington Station we go to catch a train out to Somerset, where we will spend four more days exploring the countryside with our dearest family friend, Rosi Howes!
